Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. Greenpoint neighbors rallied against National Grid's plan to expand their natural gas plant in Brooklyn. The company is seeking to build two new liquified natural gas (LNG) vaporizers on the existing plant. Concerns about pollution in such close proximity to Brooklyn housing, namely the Cooper Park Houses, have inspired locals to protest the project. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. Tuesday's Nor'easter brought down a tree onto the parked car of a Fort Greene resident. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of residents during future storms. One resident opined that "what they need to do is just come check the trees now to save more situations like this." (CBS New York)
  3. A 33-year-old man was shot multiple times outside of a Brownsville deli on Wednesday morning. The victim was taken to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries. Thus far no arrests have been made. (WABC-TV)
  4. An East New York, Brooklyn man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for shooting and killing his brother in their shared home. Jahmorley Gayle, 36, is accused of killing his brother Jahimel on the night of April 22, 2018. (Shore News Network)
