Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. The Attorney General's office has officially warned LabQ to stop advertising 48-hour turnaround times on COVID-19 tests. The testing lab has been experiencing significant delays in test results, and the AG's office insisted that they not spread misinformation to the public. COVID-19 tests are yet again in high demand due to the recent spike in cases. (NBC New York)
  2. Mayor-elect Eric Adams has canceled his own inauguration ceremony in Brooklyn due to the recent wave of COVID-19. The ceremony was intended to be held at Kings Theater in Brooklyn for a crowd on 3,000 family members, community leaders, and "a diverse group of New Yorkers." Record-breaking daily case numbers have prompted the cancellation of many events across the city. (WPIX 11 New York)
  3. A 25-year-old Brooklyn man was shot and killed on a Brownsville street on Monday night. Kerwin James was shot in the chest and taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No arrests were immediately made, and the NYPD has of yet not provided any suspect information. (New York Post)
