Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. Former North Brooklyn councilmember Stephen Levin announced that he will begin a new role as Chief Operating Officer at Solar One. The Manhattan-based sustainability nonprofit began in 2004 to manage Stuvesant Cove Park and has grown significantly since then. During his time representing District 33, Levin co-sponsored the Climate Mobilization Act, and was a vocal advocate for homeless New Yorkers. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. Residents of the former NYCHA property, The Linden Houses, say that they have been without heat for over a month. The property was taken over by C+C Apartment Management on Dec. 29, who have claimed that they are working on both short-term, and long-term solutions. Many residents, some of whom have lived in the building for decades, are wary of the true intentions of the new management. (Spectrum News NY1)
  3. A missing autistic teen who ran away from his home on Sunday was found in good condition. The 13 year old ran away from his family residence in Cypress Hils after an argument about his homework. A spokesman for the NYPD was unable to share any additional information on how the teen was found. (New York Daily News)
  4. Woman suspected of killing Brooklyn teen arrested at JFK Airport. (paywall: New York Daily News)
