Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
- Construction is officially underway on the Rheingold Senior Residences at 15 Monteith St. The new affordable housing complex will feature 94 residences in the Bushwick neighborhood. The project is expected to reach completion in 2023. (New York YIMBY)
- Malikah Shabazz, daughter of civil rights activist Malcolm X, was found dead in her Brooklyn home. The 56 year old was found unresponsive, and the death was not deemed suspicious. Her death comes in the wake of the exoneration of two convicted killers of her father, Malcolm X. (NBC New York)
- The Brooklyn Diocese removed Rev. Peter Mahoney following a probe into sexual assault allegations. The alleged abuse occurred between 1975 and 1978, but only began being investigated in October 2020. Mahoney's name will now be added to the Brooklyn Diocese's list of credibly accused priests.
