Massive ALDI Discount Grocery Store Coming To Downtown Brooklyn
The 54,000-square-foot retail space on Fulton Street will be anchored by German discount grocery chain Aldi, set to open next week.

BROOKLYN, NY — A massive new Aldi supermarket is set to open next week in Downtown Brooklyn, adding another major grocer to bustling Fulton Street.
The new Aldi will take up part of the 54,000 square feet of retail space inside the 625 Fulton development, which includes hundreds of apartments — 303 studios, 475 one-bedrooms, and 324 two-bedrooms. Earlier this year, an affordable housing lottery opened for the two-building complex, designed by Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects and developed by the Rabsky Group.
The project features a 35-story tower at 625 Fulton Street with 1,098 rentals and a smaller five-story building at 12 Rockwell Place with 52 apartments. In total, 331 of the units were set aside for residents earning between 80 and 130 percent of the Area Median Income, or between $64,903 and $227,500.

The new Aldi arrives just months after rival discount grocer Lidl opened a 30,000-square-foot supermarket at 490 Fulton Street near Bond Street, in a space once home to Express Factory Outlet, Chase Bank, and Burlington.
The German grocer will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 6 at 9 a.m., about 30 minutes before the store officially opens. Customers will be allowed to enter immediately after the event. As part of the opening festivities, the first 100 shoppers will receive a Golden Ticket worth up to $100, along with a free reusable bag filled with ALDI products, officials said.

The new Brooklyn store is part of ALDI’s continued push to expand its footprint across New York City. The grocer is preparing to open its first central Manhattan location in 2026, inside The Ellery, a 32-story luxury residential tower near Times Square.
ALDI has secured a 25,000-square-foot space at 312 West 42nd Street, on the edge of Hell’s Kitchen, through a partnership with Taconic Partners and National Real Estate Advisors, according to reports.
“Opening our first store in the heart of Manhattan will be a significant milestone for ALDI as we continue to expand access to affordable, quality groceries in the most in-demand locations across the country,” Chris Daniels, regional VP at ALDI said in a statement. “This location will allow us to provide New Yorkers with a simpler, quicker, and more enjoyable shopping experience with great products at the lowest prices, every day.”
