Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. A structure fire on Avenue 1 in the Midwood neighborhood ended in injuries. Authorities indicated that a fifth floor unit caught fire in the evening, and it took the crew 30 minutes to extinguish the flame. Three people were transported to a hospital and treated for their injuries. (Local Accident Reports)
  2. An unidentified Brooklyn man was shot and killed along Miller Avenue late Friday night. The man in his 40s was found with multiple bullet wounds in his torso. Sources say that the victim was killed following a verbal altercation with an unidentified suspect. (AMNY)
  3. A surprise landing made by a helicopter on and empty Crown Heights lot triggered an aerial police chase. The Robinson R-66 helicopter landed in the lot at the corner of Troy Avenue and Carol Street, dropped off a pair of passengers, and proceeded to take off wherein the pilot was pursued to Lakewood Airport in New Jersey. Police have identified the pilot and alerted the FAA. (NBC New York)
