Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. The NYCHA inked a deal worth $1.4 billion for repairs to housing units under the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program. The controversial RAD program has led some residents to fear privatization of public housing. The massive cash infusion will go towards repairs in over 5,000 housing units in Brooklyn. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. The Broadway Junction subway station opened yesterday for COVID-19 testing as a pop-up site. The transit hub was also used earlier this year as a site to administer vaccines. The opening of many test sites is part of the city's response to the ever-increasing demand for COVID-19 tests. (Brooklyn Reader)
  3. Renderings for a seven-story mixed used building at 2605 Snyder Ave. in Flatbush have been revealed. The building will house rental units, many amenities, as well as ground floor commercial space. The project team has not yet disclosed any information regarding anticipated date of completion.
