Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. Green activists are urging the state to block a permit that would grant a contentious upgrade to a Greenpoint natural gas plant. The plans for the National Grid plant include adding two new liquid gas vaporizers. Environmental groups are fighting to prevent new fossil fuel-burning machinery from being implemented in the city. (THE CITY)
  2. Regal UA attributed the closing of the longtime Court Street Theater on lease disagreements. The company has claimed that they were unable to conduct successful negotiations with the landlord for a fair and sustainable rent. Though often a giving life to a rowdy environment, the theater was beloved by many downtown Brooklyn locals. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
  3. LaGuardia Airport recently received major upgrades to Terminal B, which serves American Airlines, JetBlue, Air Canada and many other major airlines. Improvements include a new western skybridge, as well as a second concourse. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
