Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
- A 17-year-old Brooklyn high school student was arrested for bringing a loaded gun inside the The Urban Assembly School of Law and Justice. The teen was taken into custody with no incident after a school employee called authorities to report the presence of a firearm on campus. Sources reported that the teen was also in possession of $1,000 at the time of the arrest. (WPIX 11 New York)
- Six injured and dozens left homeless as an explosion in the lower levels of a Cypress Hills home rocked the neighborhood. The blast collapsed the first floor of the home on Vermont Street into the cellar. Investigations have pointed to a faulty boiler as a cause for the explosion. (CBS New York)
- A NY police officer's foot was run over in a hit-and-run incident. The officer pulled over the BMW SUV before the suspect abruptly pulled away from the routine traffic stop, inuring the officer in the process. The suspect, 30-year-old Justin Santiago, was found and taken into custody. (WABC-TV)
