Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. A teenager was shot and killed in Bedford-Stuyvesant early on Sunday morning. The 18-year-old male victim had been sitting inside a parked car on Greene Avenue when he was shot multiple times in the chest. Sources familiar with the case believe the victim to have been affiliated with gang activity, and no arrests have yet been made. (AMNY)
  2. A "Black Lives Matter" flag was stolen from a Brooklyn elementary school and replaced with an "All Lives Matter" flag and an American flag. Parents initially hung the Black Lives Matter flag along with a Pride flag outside of a school to demonstrate their community's commitment to anti-racism and LGBTQ rights. This act of vandalism has become a recurring incident, with the school having at least two Pride flags and six Black Lives Matter flags. (Yahoo News)
  3. An 18-year-old woman was killed in the passenger seat of a vehicle in Crown Heights when the driver of the car T-boned another vehicle while fleeing a traffic stop. The 18-year-old driver was headed west on Eastern Parkway when he slammed into a Toyota on Rogers Ave. The female passenger was taken to Kings County Hospital where she was pronounced dead. (Yahoo News)
  4. A mugger tussled with a 43-year-old woman while she was waiting for a subway in Washington Heights. The suspect approached the victim and flashed a knife while grabbing her phone, and the two struggles until he eventually grabbed her purse and ran off. Police were able to recover the purse but the cash was missing from inside. (MSN)
  5. A 32-year-old bicyclist was fatally struck in Brownville by a yellow school bus on Friday morning. The woman was transported to Brookdale University Medical Center where she died of her injuries. The incident remains under investigation. (Local Accident Reports)
