Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. A 13-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was struck by a box truck on Thursday morning. The teenager was exiting an MTA bus and crossing the street in the vicinity of Avenue J and Coney Island Avenue when she was hit and taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The 35-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. (WPIX 11 New York)
  2. In a bizarre string of events, a car barreled through the outdoor seating area of Friducha Mexican Restaurant on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint on Tuesday night, and the same restaurant was burglarized the following night. Sibling owners of the eatery, Sandra and Wilson Lopez, said that the security cameras were broken, TVs were smashes, and $200 was taken from the cash register. The total property damage is estimated to be around $1,500. (WABC-TV)
  3. The widows of three Brooklyn restaurant workers killed in a 2019 hate crime are appalled by the assailant's insanity plea, and his being sent to a mental institution. (Paywall: New York Daily News)
