Uber Is Offering $5 Carpools Anywhere in Brooklyn (Plus Free Pizza) Thursday

In celebration of the ride-sharing app's 5-year anniversary in New York City's 5 boroughs.

BROOKLYN, NY — Despite the mayor's best efforts, the Uber ride-sharing empire has survived — and thrived — in New York City for exactly 5 years to the week, the company announced in a mass email sent to customers Sunday.

And to mark that smug anniversary, Uber will be offering $5 flat rates for the UberPool carpooling service in a different borough each day this week.

Here's the schedule:

So come Thursday, you'll be able to hail a $5 ride anywhere within the Brooklyn borough. (And Friday, anywhere on the island of Manhattan, which is a pretty crazy concept.)

There will also be free pizza available at select pizza joints in each borough — on that borough's official "day" — to anyone who shows the Uber app on their phone, according to the company.

Below are the Brooklyn pizzerias handing out free slices Thursday.

"For a free slice, just show your Uber app (on your phone) at the door," says Uber.
