Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. Police are searching for the suspect who violently attacked and raped a 23-year-old woman at her apartment building. Prior to the assault, the suspect had been engaged in conversation with the woman on the sidewalk outside of her building. The incident occurred in Crown Heights, and anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. (AMNY)
  2. The owner of the Linden Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in East New York is being made to pay $750,000 in damages to the family of a now-deceased resident. A jury at the Kings County Supreme Court decided that the nursing home had failed to provide 90-year-old Olive Davis with proper care. This is not the first instance wherein the owner Joel Landau was involved in legal issues related to his business operations. (Brooklyn Paper)
  3. A backhoe driver and a job site foreman were charged with manslaughter in a March 2021 incident that killed a home health aide. The victim, Estelle David was hit and run over by the backhoe while walking across New Lots Avenue in East New York. Prosecutors argued that proper safety measures were not taken, and the workers will be held accountable. (CBS New York)
