Man Found Dead In Central Park Identified As BK Resident: NYPD

The man was found Monday morning at the Heckscher Playground near Center Drive and 62nd Street Monday, police said.

CENTRAL PARK, NY - Authorities have identified the man found dead in a Central Park playground Monday.

Ian Stapp, 37, of Ocean Avenue in Flatbush, was found by a park worker about 8:30 a.m. at the Heckscher Playground near Center Drive and 62nd Street, police said.

Stapp was found with “multiple lacerations” to his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Brooklyn resident was found with superficial cuts to the stomach, neck and chest, PIX11 reported, adding that police sources believe his wounds were self-inflicted.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause of death, police said. The investigation remains ongoing.
