FARMINGDALE, NY — A Woodward Parkway kindergarten aide saved the life of a young child choking on her lunch on Thursday, the Farmingdale School District wrote on Facebook.

Dawn Puig rescued the girl in a "swift and composed manner" to prevent a potential tragedy, the district wrote.

"To Dawn, whose timely actions altered the course of a critical moment, we offer our deepest gratitude," the school district wrote. "Thank you for not just being a part of our community but for making it safer."
