Classic Rock Concert Cancelled in Oyster Bay

Town says Friday will to too hot to rock out.

"The Show Must Go On" elsewhere Friday as Town of Oyster Bay officials cancelled Friday's Queen and Rolling Stones cover band concert.

Almost Queen and Satisfaction, two bands covering Queen and The Rolling Stones, were scheduled to play at Theodore Roosevelt Park Friday evening. Citing high heat and the safety of all residents, Town officials announced the concert's cancellation. The National Weather Service issued a "excessive heat warning" for Friday. See that story here.

The concert will not be rescheduled, they said.

Almost Queen apologized to fans on their Facebook page.

Friday also marks a straight week of cancelled programs and extended lifeguarding hours. Town officials announced their Summer Recreation program would be cancelled throughout the afternoon and that all outside athletic activities they sponsor would be prohibited until 7 p.m.

The TOBAY Dog Park and Skate Park were also closed Friday.

Lifeguard hours were extended again to 6 p.m.

TOBAY Spray Park will be open until 6 p.m.
