Amityville

A Massapequa man was arrested Wednesday for driving drunk in Amityville with two young children in his car, Suffolk County Police said.

Police received a tip that David Hager, Jr. might have been driving while intoxicated, and an officer stopped him near the intersection of Ketcham Avenue and Orchard Street.

Hager had his 4-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son in the car with him. 

Officers determined Hager was drunk and placed him under arrest, police said.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, which makes it a felony to drive drunk with a child under 15 in the car. Hager was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Lindenhurst

A Lindenhurst woman has been charged with DWI following a crash with a police car on Montauk Highway on Sunday night, police said.

According to Suffolk police, Theresa Bernagozzi, 44, was traveling west on Montauk and making a left at when the Honda CRV she was driving collided with a marked police vehicle traveling east.

The officer in the police car was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for a broken leg, according to the SCPD.

Northport

An East Northport man killed his ex-girlfriend, who was the mother of his child on Monday, before taking his own life in an apparent murder-suicide, police said. Authorities said James Schultz, 31, picked up his 13-month-old child from the house of Katherine Farrell, 23, of St. James early Monday morning. That's when police said Schultz stabbed the baby's mother to death.

Police said they responded a 911 call at 8:59 a.m. in East Northport, where Schultz lived with his parents. According to police, Schultz had left the baby in another room before going to another part of the house and shooting himself. The child was not harmed. Police said that when they tried to notify the child's mother later in the day, they found she had not gone to work. Officers then went to Farrell's house, where they found her dead. 

Hauppauge

A Hauppauge CEO of a bankrupt medical imaging and record company pleaded not guilty to allegedly stealing $300,000 from his employees' 401K funds. 

Om Soni, 67, of Oyster Bay, chief executive officer of Hauppauge-based Sonix Medical Records, pleaded not guilty to felony charges of second-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud in Riverhead courts.
