FARMINGDALE, NY — As we welcome spring weather, Farmingdale Mayor Ralph Ekstrand gave updates on several infrastructure projects in the village.

Fairfield Properties has plans to invest approximately $1 million for the upgrade to the plaza, which will include a fountain, brickwork, trees, shrubs, seating area, an elevated seating area for people to watch for trains, and other improvements, according to Ekstrand. Work is progressing at Fairfield Plaza, which is at Secatogue Avenue and S. Front Street, next to the Farmingdale Village LIRR station.

"We thank Fairfield Properties for their investment in Farmingdale Village," Ekstrand said.

The planned burial of the electric wires downtown by National Grid was postponed until the fall because of spring and summer events, according to Ekstrand.

Work on the new 500,000-gallon water tower on Eastern Parkway is underway, and completion is expected later this year, the mayor said. Additionally, upgrades are underway at the DPW garage, located at Ketchum Lane and Ridge Road, and construction of the new DPW garage is scheduled to start in June.
