
BETHPAGE, NY – A Long Island high school music teacher is accused of sexually abusing a child, Nassau County Police said Friday night.
Joseph Gallagher, a choir teacher at Bethpage High School, was arrested on Wednesday and released on $7,500 cash bail following an arraignment that same day, according to court records. Gallagher, 28, is charged with two counts of third degree sexual abuse and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Bethpage High School was notified of a possible incident, alleged to have occurred on June 5, and contacted police.

According to police, Gallagher, of Smithtown, engaged in sexual contact with a female child. Police did not release the age of the child.
