FARMINGDALE, NY—This spring, there will be a new roller coaster at Long Island amusement park Adventureland. FireBall is coming to the park, located on Route 110 in Farmingdale, and the park owners tell Patch that it will be a thrill ride that a range of ages can enjoy.

Adventureland has been LI's largest amusement park since 1962 and it's still family-owned.

Jeanine Gentile is among the third generation of the Gentile family to own the park since 1987. She tells Patch that Adventureland aims to create rides for the whole family.

"Our goal when bringing new rides to the park is to have them be family rides. We pride ourselves on family fun for everyone and that thought is at the heart of all decisions. ThepPark has something to offer for everyone, thrill seekers and non-thrill seekers. We feel FireBall is the perfect mix for all ages."

In recent years, the park has added two kid-friendly roller coasters, Turbulence and the Rattle Snake.

FireBall is planned to be ready sometime next spring but Gentile says there is no exact date yet. Adventureland opens in March.

FireBall's scariness level will depend on the weight of riders: as each car comes to the end of a horizontal line, the car will drop to the next level, giving a sensation of falling. Gentile says it will be just the right amount of fun for the whole family, rather than terrifying. The height requirement will be 41 inches.

"FireBall will be more of a thrill ride rather a scary ride. It will feel like a new thrill each time you ride based on the weight of the riders," Gentile explains.
