Gordon had an easier path to the 2022 general election, as she ultimately ran unopposed on the Democratic Party line. Neither Mike Sax or William Hoist, two projected candidates, ended up running against Gordon, according to Ballotpedia. She will also represent the Working Families Party.
Following Garbarino's win in the Republican Primary, he released a statement about November's election.
"Thank you NY-2! I’m incredibly grateful for the overwhelming grassroots support for my reelection which propelled our campaign to a decisive victory," Garbarino wrote on Facebook. "We are going to carry this enthusiasm and momentum straight through to November. I commend all candidates on a hard-fought race — now it’s time to unite and defeat the Democrats’ radical, out-of-touch agenda. When we take back the House from Nancy Pelosi, the Republican majority is going to put a much-needed check on the Biden White House and focus on the issues that matter most to Long Islanders - addressing rising crime, securing our border, and getting our economy back on track."
