Garbarino declared victory early Wednesday.
"Thank you NY-2! I’m incredibly grateful for the overwhelming grassroots support for my reelection which propelled our campaign to a decisive victory," Garbarino wrote on Facebook. "We are going to carry this enthusiasm and momentum straight through to November. I commend all candidates on a hard-fought race — now it’s time to unite and defeat the Democrats’ radical, out of touch agenda. When we take back the House from Nancy Pelosi, the Republican majority is going to put a much needed check on the Biden White House and focus on the issues that matter most to Long Islanders - addressing rising crime, securing our border, and getting our economy back on track."
Garbarino defeated Gordon in the 2020 General Election with 52.9 percent of the votes to 46 percent to be elected to Congress. Harry Burger of the Green Party picked up 1 percent of the vote.
