Playground Being Built At East Farmingdale Park

The playground, being built at Michel Park, will feature five structures and an area specifically for children in wheelchairs.

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY — A new playground is being built at Michel Park in East Farmingdale, the Town of Babylon announced. The playground's target completion is late spring.

The play area will include five new structures. An Americans with Disabilities Act structure specifically for children in wheelchairs is being built at the community's request, according to the town.

"This new playground will be a great addition to the East Farmingdale community," Tony Martinez, deputy supervisor and chair of parks and recreation, told Patch. "Featuring an ADA specific structure to accommodate children in wheelchairs, we are responding to the needs of the people we serve and we are excited to see the playground full of smiling children soon."

The safety surface will be turf and will fit roughly the same footprint of the prior playground that had become outdated over the years.

Babylon Councilman DuWayne Gregory and Parks Commissioners Dan McKeon, Eva Rodriguez-Greguski and Marlon Marshall recently broke ground at the site of the upcoming playground.
