Post-Sandy Mold Workshop Set for Thursday

Workshop scheduled for Thursday at the Moose Lodge on South Broadway in Lindenhurst.

A seminar about the ill effects of mold following Hurricane Sandy is scheduled to take place in Lindenhurst on Thursday, May 16.

The Mold: "Next Wave of Hazards from Sandy?" workshop takes place at the Moose Lodge 1421 on South Broadway from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to the Lindy Manpower Facebook page here.

It's being co-sponsored by Lindy Manpower and the Long Island Long-Term Recovery Group (LILTRG).

The Health and Safety Committee, a sub-committee of the LILTRG, will lead the discussion and offer two speakers:

  • David Newman, industrial hygienist, New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (NYCOSH).
  • Dorothy Maples, AmeriCorps Saint Louis, team coordinator, Long Island Volunteer Center.
Topics include mold hazards that are particular to a post-Sandy environment, how to assess the adequacy of measure taken so far, primary issues related to health risks and best practices for control and prevention.
