'Greatly Missed': Longtime Firefighter Killed In Hit-And-Run Mourned
Jeffrey Frank was killed when an SUV collided with him on Wednesday night, police said.

HEWLETT, NY — The victim of a hit-and-run this week in Hewlett is being remembered.
Jeffrey Frank, 74, a Hewlett resident, was struck and killed by an SUV on Wednesday night, police said.
Frank was a longtime member of the Hewlett Fire Department.

"JJ was a caring and dedicated member for over 35 years, and a true staple to the Five Towns Community. He will be greatly missed," the department wrote on Facebook.
Frank was part of Engine Company 2. He was also a veteran music DJ at Backstage in Woodmere. As one person wrote on Facebook, "Jeffrey had savant recollection capability when it came to music. He could likely tell you the names of releases of almost every artist or group, along with the label(s) they were on, and track duration."

Police said the driver struck Frank as he crossed Broadway and dragged him to the side of the street before he fled.
No arrests have been made.
