LIJ Valley Stream Gets Top Distinction For Surgical Care
It is the second Northwell Health hospital to receive the status, but LIJ Valley Stream is the first community facility with the honor.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital has earned a prestigious designation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
LIJ Valley Stream is the second Northwell Health hospital to receive the status, but it is the first community site to receive the recognition.
"This milestone underscores the quality, skill and safety that is demonstrated in the surgical care we provide for our patients every day. We are proud to lead the way in surgical excellence within our community," said Dr. Gainosuke Sugiyama, Long Island Jewish Valley Stream chair of surgery.

The ACS Quality Verification Program is aimed at assessing the overall quality of a hospital’s surgical services. It evaluates around 12 key standards, including essential surgical operations and the hospital's influence across different specialties.
