  1. A suspect is at large after an armed robbery at a Long Island gas station. Police saw around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, a man walked into the BP gas station on North Central Avenue in Valley Stream and approached the clerk with a handgun. (Daily Voice)
  2. A late Valley Stream man was honored with the naming of a new Coast Guard cutter. Clarence Sutphin served in the Coast Guard during World War II and risked his life to save the crew of a boat under heavy enemy fire during the Battle of Saipan and came to the aid of eight Marines and earned him a Bronze Star.
