Obituary: Robert 'Lefty' Hanon, Honorary Lawrence-Cedarhurst FD Chief

The Five Towns community, particularly those with the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, is mourning the loss of Honorary Chief Robert “Lefty” Hanon.

LCFD announced Hanon’s passing in a Facebook post on Sunday.

“Lefty was known throughout the fire service and the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department as a true ’truckie’ and a legendary roof man,” the department said. “He taught members, young and old, his life lessons and tricks of the trade. We will surely cherish these forever.”

Hanon served the department for 53 years. His late wife, Barbra, was also an active member of the department’s Ladies Auxiliary.
