Shaq, Veterans Pay Tribute At UBS Arena

The "Chair of Honor" was unveiled on Veterans Day and remain unoccupied to represent Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action.

ELMONT, NY — A tour group turned into special Veterans Day honorees at the soon-to-be opened UBS Arena.

The group was surprised with the unveiling of a "Chair of Honor," the arena tweeted on Thursday. It will remain empty at events as a tribute to Prisoners of War and Americans Missing in Action.

"[It] symbolizes that there will always be a place for them at UBS Arena awaiting their safe return." they tweeted.

NBA great Shaquille O'Neal, wearing number 34 on an Islanders jacket, was alongside the veterans for the solemn ceremony.

UBS Arena officially opens when they drop the puck for the Islanders and Maple Leafs on Nov. 20.
