- Rhona Lawrence of Westbury gathered with supporters last week to renew interest in solving the unsolved shooting deaths of her son, Brendan Lawrence, 20, and his friend Christopher Clark, 22, in Freeport in 2009. (Subscription: Newsday)
- A woman's comments at a Rockville Centre meeting have drawn outrage from the community who say they were antisemitic. The board was discussing a large menorah on the front lawn of a Marlboro Court home at an April 4 meeting. The woman said: "I am asking you to amend the village code so that a synagogue cannot be on every residential street like they are on the Five Towns." (Patch)
