Glen Cove To Host National Night Out On Aug. 1

It will highlight the police department's work, as well as the local community groups.

GLEN COVE, NY — Glen Cove officials are hosting National Night Out on Aug. 1 on Bridge Street in front of the police department's headquarters.

It will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The event is presented by the City of Glen Cove, Glen Cove Police Department, Police Benevolent Association, Youth Bureau, fire department, emergency medical services, the Housing Authority, the downtown Business Improvement District, and local businesses and organizations.

Local government officials, police officers, first responders, and community leaders are all eager to participate in this event, according to a news release.

Mayor Pam Panzenbeck and Police Chief William Whitton are inviting all residents to participate "in this fun and educational event to support the safety of our community," according to a news release.

National Night Out is an outstanding program that provides residents "with an opportunity to build relationships" with Glen Cove’s law enforcement officers "and learn about the many programs and services offered by the city and community groups," the news release stated.

"This is a most important event the police department and Police Benevolent Association support each year as it underscores the critical relationship of police officers with the community," officials said.

"Safety and neighborhood unity all stem from the strength of a strong relationship between the police department and the community they serve and protect."

"With community support and participation, National Night Out "is an outstanding way to increase awareness against crime, encourage drug prevention, support local anti-crime efforts, and further solidify the already strong ties between the Glen Cove community and its hardworking police department, officials said.
