8-Year-Old Seriously Hurt After Being Struck By Van In Huntington

The girl was struck on Saturday afternoon, police say.

An 8-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was struck by a van while crossing the street in Huntington on Saturday afternoon, police say.

According to authorities, the girl was crossing the street in front of Laura's Dance and Fitness Studio, located at 586 New York Ave., when she was struck by a 1997 Ford van traveling southbound at 12:10 p.m.

The girl, a Lloyd Harbor resident, was taken to Huntington Hospital by the Huntington Community First Aid Squad. She was then taken to Cohen’s Children’s Hospital in Queens for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the van, West Babylon resident Pedro Guerrero, was not injured and stayed at the scene.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
