Affordable Housing Lottery For Long Island Seniors Now Open

An affordable housing lottery for Long Island seniors is accepting applications until May 15.

An affordable housing lottery for those 55 and older will be accepting applications online through May 15.

The Town of Huntington Community Development Agency announced the lottery for 14 income-restricted units at Seasons at Elwood at 544 Elwood Rd.

There are seven "Elm" and seven "Fir" units available.

  • The Elm: Seven (7) upper level units available to eligible applicants meeting the 120% AMI maximum income requirements, priced at $350,125, offering two (2) bedrooms and two (2) bathrooms. Estimated annual real estate taxes $3,580.53; estimated monthly condominium charges: $69.96; estimated monthly HOA fees: $510.35.
  • The Fir: Seven (7) lower level units available to eligible applicants meeting the 80% AMI maximum income requirements, priced at $233,400, offering two (2) bedrooms and one and a half (1.5) bathrooms. Estimated annual real estate taxes $2,983.78; estimated monthly condominium charges: $69.96; estimated monthly HOA fees: $510.35.

The lottery selection will be held on May 29 at 5 p.m. at Huntington town hall.

Priority will be given to applicants who are residents of the Town of Huntington or who are employed by a business or entity that maintains a verifiable physical location within the Town of Huntington, or non-residents who have parents, children, grandchildren or grandparents who are residents of the Town of Huntington. Applicants who do not meet the above criteria are also welcome to enter the Town’s affordable housing lottery.

This development is restricted to those who are 55 years of age or older. At least one owner must be 55 years of age or older at the time of the lottery application form and the owner must occupy the home as his or her main domicile. Applications must be submitted online and only one application per household will be accepted. Applications must be submitted online by May 15, 2019. A non-refundable application processing fee of $26.50 must be paid online with the submission of the application. Applicants must be able to qualify for a mortgage.
