HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — The 27th annual Mercy Benefit Concert is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Friday at Walt Whitman High School in Huntington Station, the South Huntington School District announced.
The concert showcases the talents of student, faculty and staff musicians and artists for a good cause. The concert is ‘live on the lawn’ outside of Whitman’s South Cafeteria, allowing for the audience to spread out on blankets and beach chairs to enjoy the music and outdoors.

Community Solidarity sets up weekly "Food Shares" at distribution sites in Nassau and Suffolk, including Huntington, Farmingville, Wyandanch and Hempstead. Each Food Share works as a free supermarket where community members share instead of paying for what they need. There are no qualifying requirements and everyone is invited to participate. Community Solidarity distributes vegetarian and mostly organic groceries as well as clothing, books, toiletries, toys and other items that people can share with their neighbors.
Last year’s concert raised more than $2,000 for Community Solidarity.
Walt Whitman High School is at 301 West Hills Road, Huntington Station.

Patch has partnered with Feeding America since 2020 to help raise awareness in our local communities of hunger, a persistent national problem exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks and 60,000 local meals programs across the country, estimates that nearly 34 million people, including 9 million children — about 1 in 6 Americans — are living with food insecurity. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
