Dane Cook, Upcoming Acts At The Paramount

Through the end of February into March, Long Islanders will have the chance to see top-billed comedy and music acts at the Paramount in Huntington. From Dane Cook and Kevin James to the legendary Monkees, check out the upcoming acts.

Dane Cook "Tell It Like It Is" - Feb. 21, 7:30 p.m.

Dane Cook has maintained his reputation as one of today’s most prolific stand-up comedians, while simultaneously distinguishing himself as a charismatic and versatile actor in a variety of film and television projects.

Cook recently returned to the stage with his directorial debut of Troublemaker which premiered on Showtime. The show was filmed in the Fall of 2013 and features Cook’s acerbic wit and patented brand of provocative, on-fire comedic insight while exploring the hilarious aspects of everyday life and human behavior.

Switchfoot "The Native Tongue Tour" - Feb. 23, 7:15

As they enter their 17th year as a band, Switchfoot has achieved a level of success that brothers Jon and Tim Foreman and their high-school friend Chad Butler never anticipated when forming the band in San Diego in 1996. The SoCal natives have sold 5.5 million copies worldwide of their eight studio albums (including their 2003 double-platinum breakthrough The Beautiful Letdown and 2009’s Grammy Award-winning Hello Hurricane), racked up a string of Alternative radio hit singles (“Meant to Live,” “Dare You To Move,” “Mess of Me,” “The Sound (John M. Chazz Palminteri's "A Bronx Tale" - Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m.

Well known for A BRONX TALE, Palminteri originally wrote the script for the stage and performed it as a one-man show in Los Angeles. It became the hottest property in Hollywood since ROCKY. Mr. Palminteri was offered over a million dollars to walk away from the project and with $200.00 left in the bank he refused. He wanted to play Sonny and write the screenplay. One night Robert DeNiro walked in to see the show and as they say ”the rest is history.”

He then moved the production to New York, where it played for four sold-out months and earned him nominations for the New York Outer Critics Circle for both acting and writing. While in New York he completed the screenplay of A BRONX TALE and soon found himself starring opposite Robert DeNiro, who chose the script for his directorial debut. Most recently A Bronx Tale was on Broadway at the Longacre Theater where is finished a successful run and Mr. Palminteri finished closing out the show in the role of Sonny.

Flogging Molly - Feb. 26, 8 p.m.

And people are indeed taking action, adds King, which is a crucial point.“I think especially with things like government–I think we all tend to fall asleep a little bit when it comes to other people that are making decisions for you. I think we should be the ones influencing the government to make these decisions. It’s a great thing that we’re now taking to the streets again. And it’s a positive thing.”

The Monkees Featuring Mike Nesmith & Micky Dolenz: A Very Special Musical Journey From Last Train TO Clarksville To Me & Magdalena - March 8, 8 p.m.

Following the successful release of their debut self-titled We Three album, the Sibling Trio from Oregon are pleased to announce their first Major National Headline Tour. Encompassing 34 dates right across the USA – the band commence in New York March 7th.

Their music is positive, purposeful yet subtle with lyrics that can belie a wry twist and melodies that are incurably infectious.

Kevin James - March 10, 8 p.m.

Kevin James began his career as a stand-up on the Long Island comedy scene. After being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival, he signed a network development deal to create his own sitcom. The King of Queens, which premiered in 1998, ran for nine seasons on CBS with James starring and executive producing, and it garnered him an Emmy nomination in 2006 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

The show concluded its run in 2007 but continues to air daily in syndication across the country and around the world. James also starred in and executive produced the sitcom Kevin Can Wait for Sony Television and CBS. In 2001, James brought his stand-up act to TV with Sweat the Small Stuff, a one-hour special for Comedy Central. In 2005, Kevin James and Ray Romano executive produced and starred in the HBO Sports Special Making the Cut: The Road to Pebble Beach; a documentary about the Pebble Beach Pro Am Golf Tournament that was nominated for a Sports Emmy. His second comedy special Never Don’t Give Up premiered on Netflix in April 2018. James was the producer, co-writer, and star of the hit comedies Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 & 2, Zookeeper, and Here Comes The Boom. James made his feature film debut in 2005 in Columbia Pictures’ Hitch starring opposite Will Smith, and starred alongside Adam Sandler in Pixels, Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. He starred in the feature True Memoirs of an International Assassin for Netflix in 2016. In addition to his on-camera work, James’s voice has been featured in the animated films Barnyard for Nick Movies, as well as Monster House and the Hotel Transylvania franchise for Sony Pictures Animation.
