Elderly Couple Hurt in Suffolk Home Invasion

A burglar slashed the woman with a knife and punched the man multiple times in the chest on Thursday night, police say.

An elderly couple was hospitalized after they were assaulted by a burglar inside their Greenlawn home on Thursday night, police say.

According to authorities, the burglar entered the elderly couple's home, located in the vicinity of Broadway, and demanded cash and credit cards from the residents at 11:25 p.m.

The man displayed a small knife and slashed the woman, causing lacerations to her left arm and hand. He also punched the man several times in the chest.

The burglar fled the home with cash and a credit card.

The couple was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police described the burglar as male, thin, black and approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall. He was wearing a dark plaid jacket, dark pants and a scarf pulled over most of his face.
