'An Exceptional Human Being': Huntington Star Student-Athlete

HUNTINGTON, NY — We all know student-athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Volleyball and Basketball

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

He is an exceptional child. He was the valedictorian for his school (MDQ Academy). He played USA Volleyball and travels to tournaments such as the Eastern Classic in Richmond Virginia. He plays in various Basketball leagues such as the SABL. In addition, he is memorizing the entire Quran after school. Two times a month he donates his time and distributes hot meals for those in need. He has been distributing food for over a year. Two times a month, rain or shine, the food is distributed. His school is moving into a new location and he is there on weekends clearing out debris and filling up dumpsters. He just is an exceptional human being.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

He is genuine. He isn't interested in the limelight and he doesn't even [use] social media. He does all of his volunteer work because it's the right thing to do and by nature he is extremely empathetic.
