Thunderstorms To Rumble Over Long Island; Flood Advisory Issued
Some Long Island residents should be on the lookout for flooding streets caused by heavy rains.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Thunderstorms were expected to rumble over Long Island on Tuesday, and heavy rains could cause flooding in some areas.
The National Weather Service said issued a flood advisory for western and central areas of Suffolk County.
Areas that the NWS said could experience flooding are Islip, Brentwood, Commack, Centereach, Shirley, Deer Park, Lindenhurst, Medford, Hauppauge, Ronkonkoma, Huntington, Manorville, Stony Brook, Babylon, Patchogue, Middle Island, Port Jefferson, Wading River, Center Moriches and Northport.

There is also a coastal flood warning in effect for southern Nassau County. Flood-prone areas near the shoreline could see six inches of flooding.
Overflowing drainage could cause flooding in those areas. Drivers should not drive on flooded roads.
