Westbound access to the parkway will also be closed from Round Swamp Road.

Construction crews will be excavating at Round Swamp Road bridge for the installation of steel sheeting, replacing the backwalls of the bridge, and installing new bearings. Steel plates will cover the excavations on both sides of the bridge during the day.

According to the state Department of Transportation, this is part of a $9.5 million project announced last spring to enhance safety and longevity on three of Long Island’s bridge to ensure that they remain in a state of good repair for the next 15 to 20 years.
