By delivering roses, Umbrella is recreating the feeling of getting a rose delivered by your high school crush.

"Seniors are signing up to have valentines delivered to their friends and more than friends," said Emma Gilsanz, Head of Community at Umbrella. " What makes this event super special, is that the people delivering the valentines are Umbrella Neighbors - vetted community members who like to give back and help local older adults."

Started by Lindsay Ullman and Sam Gerstenzang, who both previously worked at tech companies, Umbrella provides help to homeowners 65 and over by matching them with vetted community members - Umbrella Neighbors - who can help with odd jobs at affordable rates.

More than 50% of our Umbrella Neighbors are recent retirees themselves who want to give back while earning a bit of extra money. Umbrella currently serves Nassau County, Eastern Queens and Western Suffolk.
