Lightning Strike Causes Boat Fire In Huntington Harbor
The boat was an unfortunate victim of Thursday evening's lightning storm.
One of the victims of the lightning storm that came down on Long Island on Thursday evening was a boat in Huntington Harbor.
A bolt of lightning struck the vessel in front of West Shore Maria, igniting a fire at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Witness Tyler Cranz told Patch he called 911 after seeing the blaze. The Huntington Fire Department arrived via boat and filled the boat with water. "It was a fiberglass fire so the water didn’t do much," Cranz said.
