Man Robs Huntington Cellphone Store At Gunpoint

The robbery occurred on Thursday evening, police say.

Authorities are investigating an armed cellphone store robbery in Huntington on Thursday evening.

According to authorities, the man entered metroPCS, located at 1669 New York Ave., displayed what appeared to be a black handgun and demanded cash and cellphones from an employee at 7:15 p.m.

He stole cash, six cell phones and an employee’s Apple iPhone XS before leaving the store. He fled northbound on New York Avenue, and then westbound on West 11th Street.

Police described the robber as white, about 5 feet 9 to 10 inches tall, thin, wearing a dark-colored hooded-sweatshirt with a red circular design on the back, grey sweatpants and black sneakers.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers, at 1-800-220-TIPS.
