Man Struck And Killed In East Islip Crash: Police
Police say the man was crossing against the light when he was hit by an SUV.
EAST ISLIP, NY — Suffolk County police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian Wednesday evening in East Islip.
According to Suffolk County police, the driver of a 2004 Jeep SUV was traveling east on Union Boulevard when he struck a man crossing the street against the traffic light at the intersection of Irish Lane around 6:15 p.m.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he died from his injuries, police said.

The driver, from Central Islip, was not injured. The car was impounded for a safety check, police said.
