A Rise Above Bake Shop To Close After 40 Years

The oldest bakery in town will close its doors this month.

A Rise Above Bake Shop in Huntington will be closing its doors this month after 40 years in business.

The bakery, located at 333 Main St., opened in 1979. The last day of business will be Monday, Dec. 31.

"It has been an absolute pleasure to be a part of this community for the last 40 years," bakery owner Mary McDonald wrote in a letter to the community.

In the letter, McDonald thanked current and former employees, patrons, landlords, her late brother Paul and her late husband Bruce.

"I wish you all the best and as I embark on a new phase of my life I hope you understand," she wrote.
