St. Patrick's Day Parade Set for Sunday in Huntington

Event features bagpipe bands and 25 Long Island marching bands; find out the parade route, and which roads will be closed to traffic.

Huntington’s St. Patrick’s Day parade is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. The parade begins north of the Huntington Train Station along New York Avenue and then heads onto Main Street ending at St. Patrick’s Church at 400 West Main Street.

This years’ grand marshal is Fr. Stephen Donnelly, of the Church of St. Patrick Huntington.

As they do every year, the Huntington Ancient Order of Hibernians, the parade’s organizers, will march dressed in their gray morning suit tuxedos.

“We take a great deal of pride in putting on the Parade,” said AOH Parade Grand Marshal Dominick Feeney, Jr., in a press release. Feeney’s grandfather was a founding father of the current Huntington AOH.

A Huntington tradition in its 81st year, the parade will feature bagpipe bands and 25 marching bands from across Long Island.

Suffolk County Police Department advises motorists of road closures in Huntington between 12 and 5 p.m. No parking will be allowed on New York Avenue or Main Street to allow for a clear and safe route. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes such as Pulaski Road for east-west travel and Park Avenue and Woodbury Road for north-south travel.
