Tattoo Lou's to Re-Open Friday

After being closed for almost a year after a car drove into the front of the Huntington Station location of Tattoo Lou's, it is completely remodeled and set to re-open Friday.

"While we were doing the work to the store we actually gutted the whole store and refinished it to a brand new store," said Lou Rubino, owner of the Tattoo Lou's chain. 

Longtime Tattoo Lou's customers could expect to see a more modern looking shop than they did before the accident in March of last year, similar to the appearance of other shops in the Lou's chain, such as the Deer Park location and Inked Republic by Tattoo Lou's in the Bay Shore Mall.

The new location, which Rubino describes as modern, features a newly designed storefront, new tile floors, granite countertops, a circular front counter, a computer system for customers to fill out the standard tattoo and piercing paperwork and more.

The shop will be manned by longtime Tattoo Lou's tattoo artist Jose Rodriguez as well as tattoo artists Gina Ilczyszyn, Paul Tochluk, and veteran piercer Matt Cohen.

Although the location has been closed for close to a year, Rubino said the adverse impact on having a shop closed financially was kept to a minimum.

"We tried our best to get people to go to our other stores and I think most people did," Rubino said. "It did affect it because we didn't have that location open but I think we were able to retain most of our customers."

The location will be open 12-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Sunday from 12-9 p.m.
