Another teenager was stabbed at Manor Field Park in Huntington Station on Monday night, Suffolk police said.
The second teenager-involved stabbing in Huntington Station in the span of a few weeks prompted the Town of Huntington to announce it is set to enhance patrols of its Public Safety officers in and around its parks, Huntington Supervisor Edmund Smyth said.
"The violence that has occurred at Huntington Station Parks over the last few weeks is extremely concerning," Smyth said in a statement. "As this incident is being investigated by the Suffolk County Police Department Second Precinct, we must defer all questions to them so as not to impede or interfere with their work. However, the Town of Huntington will continue to work closely with the Second Precinct to assist in any way they deem appropriate ... The safety of our community is of paramount concern to the Town and we will do everything within our power to keep our parks and public spaces a safe place for all our residents."
