Levittown Pair from NY Jets Proposal Head to Prom

A story about friendship, compassion, and the Gang Green comes to a fairytale end Friday night as Sarah Kardonsky and Michael Pagano head to the senior prom.

Their story began in March when Kardonsky found out her longtime friend didn’t have a date.

Pagano, who has high functioning autism, had asked Kardonsky to the prom but she already had a date. He had asked other girls but sadly, they also turned him down.

That was when Kardonsky decided to change her plans and go with Pagano to the prom. But to surprise Pagano, she called for backup from Pagano’s favorite football team, the New York Jets.

To pull off her “promposal,” Kardonsky brought in a team of all-stars: wide receivers Saalim Hakim and Shaquelle Evans, corner back Dexter McDougle, running back Bilal Powell, safety Jaiquawn Jarrett, defensive tackle Leger Douzable, defensive tackle T.J. Barnes, wide receiver Chris Owuse, and corner back Antonio Cromartie.

One after the other, each team member popped the question to Mike before Sarah herself asked, “So Mike, what do you say? You want to go to prom with me? I think you should say yes.”

And he did!

Kardonsky’s all-star act of kindness have sent the pair on a whirlwind tour since the proposal. The stunt caught the eye of news outlets across the country and even got all the way to the queen of daytime, Ellen DeGeneres.

Degeneres, who is famous for promoting kindness to others, invited the pair to her show in California and sent them home with a basket full of Jets swag.

She also gave them sparkling crowns with green jewels.
