Retired Northport teacher Chris Pendergast and an entourage of volunteers stopped in Huntington Tuesday to raise funds for ALS research.
Known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, the illness robs its victims of muscle strength and ability to move. Pendergast's wife, Christine, said the ride will head to several more communities around Long Island before wrapping up Saturday.
He is accompanied by other rides and volunteers and Suffolk County police.
The Mr. P playground at Veterans Park is named for Pendergast.
