Support local veterans by sponsoring an American flag as part of the Northport Rotary's third annual "Stars and Stripes" fundraiser.
Flags are $35 each and will grace the front of village hall, the Northport Fire Department, and the intersection of Bayview and Main Street. Applications are available inside Village Hall, the Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk, and The First National Bank of Long Island in Northport.
This year's fundraiser is in honor of Petty Officer 3rd Class Nathan Bruckenthal, son of Northport Police Chief Ric Bruckenthal. Nathan Bruckenthal was killed in 2004 in the line of duty off the coast of Iraq.
The flags will be displayed throughout July. All proceeds go toward the Northport VA Medical center.
